Cape

Polo: Pull & Bear
Jeans: Topshop
Boots: Missguided

I've got to say, this cape is one of the comfiest things I've ever worn. I picked it up in one of our Missguided sales and then on second thoughts, assumed it'd be really difficult to wear, but I was wrong.

Navy and white with gold accents is just such a clean and classic look and when you get the proportions right with a skinny jean, capes work brilliantly.

Coconut Lane: Jewellery

So, last week, I shared with you guys the news that I'm now an ambassador for the home and accessory brand, Coconut Lane. After showing you a selection of their wall art, I thought I'd review items a little closer to my fashion home this time: jewellery.

You may have noticed that I don't wear a lot of bling and that's because I just like to have a few special pieces. When I was at university, I'd think nothing of buying disposable, on-trend bits from the likes of Primark but everything just fades and breaks with time. Nowadays, I stick to one jewellery box and buy timeless gems I can love forever.

That's actually one of the things that appealed to me about Coconut Lane's jewellery: for their price points, the pieces manage to contain that classic daintiness and quality I personally want in my collection. And don't forget, you can get a further 20% off with my unique code*: astyleisborn20.

Of course, rose gold has been having a moment for a fair few years now as there's just something about it that appeals to girls. I don't know if you agree but I consider it as a sort of "classy pink" so maybe that's why. The queen ring is just amazing; it's so sassy! It's made to fit as a normal ring, not a midi one, but the arrow ring can adjust to become either. The rings on my other fingers are my own.

Something else that's having a moment is marble and this bangle has proved very popular indeed as a result. In my opinion, this piece in particular looks so much more expensive than it is. I can also vouch for its quality as I've bent it around a bit (I have tiny wrists) and it's withstood the movements.

Back later with an outfit post,

Denim & Tan

Top: Zara
Bag: Zara
Denim skirt: ASOS
Heels: River Island

It's a combination as old as time but somehow, denim & tan still works; it's one of my absolute fave pairings to wear.

I'm always getting asked about this tan, suede jacket and always have to give the disappointing "it's from last year" response that nobody wants to hear so I'm thrilled to tell you that Mango has done a whole new version for 2016, which I've linked above. I can't tell you how much wear I get out of it and it's one of those pieces you'll have for a very long time as it just improves the more worn it gets.

Now, you'll have seen this skirt before both here and on Instagram as I wear it to work a lot and I've got a lot more planned for it in SS16: I'm thinking a crisp, white shirt or an off-the-shoulder number. The top I've put with it here doesn't appear to be on the Zara site but I'm pretty sure I got it on my last trip to London. When Autumn/Winter hits, I like to get seasonal tops like this one in warm shades with winter patterns (houndstooth, winter florals, that type of thing) as you can bring them out year after year. I really like how it works with the snakeskin on the bag and this is a subtle way to wear more than one print in your outfit.

Finally, can we also just appreciate these tan, suede, lace-up heels? OMG! I've been after them for ages but I could never justify paying £75.00 on River Island shoes. I mean, they're supposed to be a highstreet store afterall. So, anyway, I've been waiting and watching and waiting some more for them to come on sale and what do you know - they have! I can't see them on their site anymore but ASOS still has a few sizes left (linked above).

Have a great afternoon,

Introducing... Ava

Hey guys, hope you're all keeping well. It's been a little while since I did an introducing post so I'm really excited to get going on this one, especially since I've had this bag for almost two months and not shared it with you yet!

I got Ava for Christmas after pointing it out in the Liverpool Michael Kors' shop window. Something about it stood out to me but I didn't think about it any more than that and definitely didn't expect to get it. So, imagine my surprise when I opened it up on Christmas Day...

Having already got two MK handbags, the Selma Mini Saffiano Leather Crossbody and the Selma Leather Studded Messenger (search 'Michael' at the top of the page to find them), I was a bit hesitant about taking on a third as I've seen a lot of other brands I want to invest in. However, keeping it is one of the best decisions I've made and you'll see why when I start posting my SS16 outfits.

Now let's talk details: you can either wear this with a cross-body strap or hold it with its cute handle like a ladyyyyyy (UK sitcom reference). I took it out for Valentine's with just the handle as I was all dressed up but equally, I'd wear it with the strap and a jeans/tee/leather jacket combo.

There's a pocket on the back and one on the inside, plus buttons to expand, meaning that, although it looks small, it can fit your essentials in. A metallic bag is also one of those items that fits with all of your staples so I think I'll really get my wear out of it.

Walking

Sunglasses: Le Specs
Scarf: Zara
Coat: Zara
Jumper: Story of Lola
Gloves: old
Trousers: Topshop
Boots: Timberland

I love to go out walking; it clears my head, it's great exercise and the scenery is amazing. As I wrote in my Valentine's post yesterday, we went up to The Dream, an art installation in the countryside, on Sunday and I loved trotting around in the sunshine.

Remaining stylish whilst walking is an absolute must for me, in the same way that people love to get kitted out for the gym. Timberlands and leather trousers or leggings work perfectly whilst it's a bit colder outside.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to be exploring practical boots a bit more and looking at how to style them in chic, fashion-forward ways so keep checking back.

Coconut Lane Ambassador

I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to share with you the news that the home and accessory brand, Coconut Lane, has asked me to become one of their ambassadors! This means that my official title is now 'Coconut Queen' and you must address me as such... kidding!

Seriously, though, I'm so excited about the collaboration, not least because there's a 'Mean Girls' theme behind their brand and products. If you follow me on Instagram (@astyleisborn), you'll probably already know that I work at Missguided and that my team there is called 'The Plastics' so this just seemed like a serendipitous partnership to me. It's also come along at a time when I'm thinking about home and interiors a lot as my boyfriend and I are making a lot of changes in that area of our life together.

Anyway, less about me, more about the brand, and what this all means for you, my readers. Now that I'm a Coconut Queen, you can get 20% off on their gorgeous site with my unique code*. Simply put astyleisborn20 into the promo box at the checkout and watch your grand total go down by a fifth! Great, huh?

And, let me tell you, you're going to need it, because everything on their site screams "I NEED that in my life NOW". From divine marble phone cases to cards, jewellery and wall art, Coconut Lane is a one-stop shop for gift-giving and self-indulgence alike. To whet your appetite, I've displayed my favorite wall art pieces above which will look equally great in a chic, city apartment as they would in university halls.

Of course, you'll now be seeing many more posts on Coconut Lane so if you need some home or accessorising inspo, make sure to stop by here.

Valentine's Day

Sorry to all of the haters who say "Valentine's is so commercial" and "You should show love every day" but I had a wonderful Valentine's Day yesterday. My stance is: I am shown (and show) love every day but there's always room for more.

Here's how my day went:

I woke up to coffee and roses and, for those of you that follow me on Instagram, you'll know that if anyone brings me coffee in the morning, I'll just love them forever. I then got a mug, socks, chocolates and three, yes THREE, cards (he saw so many that reminded him of us!) The first one was quite amusing with its "I f**king love you" text. I was supposed to think this was all the romance I was getting before I got the other two (what a joker!)

In the afternoon, we decided to head to one of my favourite local spots, The Dream, for a walk and some much-needed time in the fresh air. For those of you that don't know The Dream, it's an art installation in the middle of the countryside and it's so great to walk around. I know it's turned a lot colder this week but at least the sun is shining which makes everyone that bit happier I think.

After the walk, I got started on my chocolates with a delightful cup of tea then I got ready for dinner (outfit post coming soon). My boyfriend chose a Thai restaurant in Liverpool as it's one of our favourite cuisines and we've had some memorable times together eating Thai food on various trips away. We always choose a mixed starter and then share two mains (last night was red duck curry and chicken & cashew stir fry) with coconut rice.

Finally home to our gorgeous baby again.

Back with an outfit post tomorrow,

Pastels

Coat: Old - similar here
Top: ASOS
Bag: Kurt Geiger - similar here
Jeans: Topshop
Heels: River Island

So, as I've named pink as my trend of the month for February (read here), this is how I've styled it for the remainder of winter. Naturally, I've put it with my go-to white jeans haha!

A great way to wear pink is to layer pastel shades together as I have here. At first thought, it might sound quite bright but somehow it just works: more is less! I'd wear this combo with grey jeans as well as white and even a light blue pair would look amazing with some bright white kicks. For the warmer weather, this outfit would look fab with a denim jacket instead of the blue, winter coat.

Talking of shoes, do you remember these heels from last week? I wore them with a neutral outfit (here) but putting them with a number of colours works too as they tie them all together. I really love wearing them at the min' because I don't have anything else like them.

Finally, as we've discussed metallics before when they were January's trend of the month, I thought it'd be a good idea to pair the two months' fashions together by adding the rose gold bag to the pink look. This has been done in the hope that you read these monthly trend reports and see them as not just individual styles, but also feel like I'm providing a continual style guide going forward into SS16.

I really hope you enjoyed this post and I'll be back ASAP with another look for you.

Jacqueline xx
