Leather has had a dramatic overhaul in the past year: we've gone from a plain, matte pair of black leggings with a nice top for drinks with the girls to flirting with embroidered florals to fashion-forward vinyl.
I first dabbled with uber-shiny vinyl in AW16 and if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I wore my Topshop vinyl boots day in day out and this little H&M mini. For SS17, I decided to go bigger and bolder with the look and try the material in an even shinier form.
Now, it has to be said, this trend isn't for the faint-hearted. You're probably expecting me to say 'oh just buy something small' if you're unsure about delving in but I'm not taking any prisoners with this one and here's why...
With a material such as vinyl leather, you need to go hard or go home. In my experience, styling bold items in a minimal way downplays them from statement-making pieces to just another item in your wardrobe; you need to own them!
So, go on - don your pair of vinyls and add ruffles, electric pink and touches of gold to make an unforgettable, eye-catching (for the right reasons) statement of your own!
There are some great colour alternatives around too if that's your thing (the reds and pinks are my faves - see below). However, I don't think I'm quite that bold yet hahaha!
