Here are my selected close-ups from July!

I can't believe the culotte series was earlier this month; it feels like so much longer ago!

Denim Skirt

Sunglasses: Le Specs
Shirt: ASOS
Denim skirt: ASOS
Bag: Michael Kors

FINALLY – I’ve found the perfect denim skirt! I can’t quite believe it because the hunt has taken a silly amount of time but here it is!

Previously, I had been unable to find the right fit, colour and length combo that I wanted but, as usual, ASOS saved the day! Hurrah!

The material is just darling: it fits like a glove without restricting; it is soft yet rigid (just what you need out of your denim) and I very much doubt I’ll ever have to iron it (winner!)

Getting the correct colour was important to me because I already had a few outfits put together in my head with existing items in my wardrobe and they just wouldn’t have worked without this exact shade.

As for the length, I wanted to try a different style of skirt to usual. I have below-the-knee skirts and mini skirts but nothing like this. Of course, the split balances out the longer length and adds a bit of youthful fun to the look!

Pairing it with this blue, chambray-esque lace-up shirt creates a double denim effect which provides me with a nice, softer alternative as I wear double denim quite a lot.

Feel free to contact me if you need any advice on how to wear your denim skirt this summer and into the winter months!

Leather Runners

Boho blouse: Boohoo
Bag: Longchamp
Leather runner shorts: H&M (old) - similar here and here
Espadrilles: Kurt Geiger

So, I bought these runner shorts last year and generally wore them with baseball t-shirts and blazers but this summer, I have got them back out to play with my boho blouse.

You see, when new styles infiltrate our catwalks, stores and websites, it's important not to shy away from them and instead create new looks with what you already have in your wardrobe. That way, your style is entirely unique to you!

This is also one of the reasons I fell in love with these espadrille hybrids so quickly (read my post on them here); they give me the freedom to combine several looks in one. Here, the white rubber sole brings a sporty feel to the outfit to match the effect of the shorts and the stitching on the shoes creates another aspect alongside the embroidery on the blouse, allowing both trends to feature in the same outfit.

Mixing and matching like this is something I spend a lot of time doing in my wardrobe. I find that it really cultivates my creativity and forces me to embrace new ways of wearing items. If this is something you would like to hear more about then please feel free to comment on this post or send me an email (astyleisborn@gmail.com) as I would love to create a step-by-step feature for you guys!

White Refresh

Sunglasses: Quay Australia
Leather jacket: Vila
Dress: ASOS (old) - here and here
Bag: Michael Kors
Shoes: Senso

Hi guys!

Hope you are all having a great week so far!

I'm writing this post because I love, love, love wearing all white so I am constantly looking for ways to keep the look fresh.

Here, I added leather, studs and laces to toughen up my girly boho dress which isn't a way I have worn it before. I love how the pretty detailing on the front of the dress completely contrasts with the zips and textures of the fiercer items.

So why not go and grab your summer dress and dig through your wardrobe to find something new to pair it with?

Double Fringe

Suede jacket: Mango (sold out)
T-shirt: ASOS
Fringed skirt: River Island now ON SALE
Leather clutch: Topshop (old) - a selection here
Fringed heels: Topshop (sold out in nude but there are a couple of sizes in black here)

Wow, guys, I've got to tell you - I haven't really worn skirts for the past year. Can you believe it? Dresses, yes, but skirts, I seem to have had a big break from. There wasn't really a reason; I guess dresses are great to simply throw on and jeans/trousers/shorts have had a bit of a moment over recent years.

However, this summer we have been inundated with statement skirts and I just love them! I wear a lot of basic tops so they fit really well into my wardrobe as the perfect contrast. And that is exactly how to wear a statement skirt - with a simple top.

It's also important to keep the look simple if you're going to go for double fringing as you don't want layers upon layers of it. That is the reason I have chosen to put the skirt and shoes together - because they are separated.

The skirt itself is a delight to wear: it is so soft and swishes as you move. I have tried to capture its movement in the photographs hence why there are quite a few more focused on that one item than I would usually upload in a blogpost. Also, you may notice that the skirt works in a similar manner to the wrap skirt with two layers of fringing, one coming across the other.

What a beauty!
