Kurt Geiger Discount

I was so excited when I got the email from Kurt Geiger to say they've got 25% off SITE WIDE until Monday at midnight. I mean, is there any better bank holiday treat?

Here you have some of my favourite pieces this season, from left to right, top to bottom:

RAW Taupe Mid Heel Sandals: Not quite ready to come out of your winter boots yet? Meet the hybrid! And what a gorgeous colour they are! I'm in love!

WOVEN KATE BAG: I really, really want a bag with a jazzy handle but until I buy one, I'm going to wrap a nice, silky scarf around one I've already got.

METAL CLUBMSTR SUNGLASSES: I'm a little obsessed with sunglasses at the mo' (wait 'til you see my latest haul post!)

WOVEN ANNIE Crossbody Bag: Crossbody bags are ideal for summertime because they're not too fussy. The colours on this one will go with everything.

BARBON Flat Sandals: These are so on-trend right now I can't even cope! The pattern, the eyelets, the laces, the flatform sole - well done,  KG!

LOTUS Trainers: The perfect casual footwear for Spring/Summer.

POPPY 2 Flatform Sandals: Metallic and (fairly) practical? Sign me up!

AMBER White Mid Heel Court Shoes: These ladylike shoes are everywhere at the minute and they're a welcome addition to my shoe-drobe. I've got these, also by Kurt Geiger, and you can see them in action here.

SAFFIANO LONDON TOTE: I could take one of these in every colour; they're so lovely.

Enjoy!

Sky Pod Bar

As you may remember from last week, I recently ventured to London for an event with American Tourister. Whenever I go down there for work, I always make sure to travel the day before and meet up with friends from school and university for dinner and drinks.

This time, we chose to go to Sky Pod Bar, which is part of the Sky Garden at the top of the Walkie Talkie:

The Walkie Talkie
Inside is just the most phenomenal environment filled with pink lights and plants, complete views of London, sofas and bar tables alike, and even blankets if you get cold.

Satin Bomber

Sunglasses: Quay Australia
Choker: ASOS
Satin bomber: Missguided
Jeans: Topshop
Trainers: Adidas

Hi everyone! Hope you're all gearing up for the weekend and have some awesome plans. Two days of hard work for me as I'm going to be shooting what feels like a tonne of outfits. I'm very organised at the minute but my goodness, is it tiring!

Anyway, do you remember last year when Topshop released their shiny, khaki, MA1 bomber? I was so, so desperate for it but it sold out super quickly, no thanks to its beauty! As is usually the case with me, the things I didn't buy play on my mind so when this little thing came in at Missguided, I snapped it up immediately and I've hardly taken it off since; it's perfect for this time of year.

When I buy a new staple such as this jacket, I always like to try it with double denim as it's something I wear a lot therefore it needs updating quite often. Whoever said blue and green should never be seen? Pfffft! Although I do feel that the sunglasses help in tying them together.

I got these jeans quite recently in the Topshop sale and I couldn't be happier with them; they're exactly what I've been looking for. I can't find them anywhere online but just pop to your local store and you never know, they might have a pair in or something similar. Denim is actually one of the only things I buy in sales because it doesn't look dated like the rest of the stuff they bring out. I'm really not a fan of sales, can you tell haha?

American Tourister

Last week, I went to London for a wonderful event hosted by Chase PR to showcase (excuse the pun) American Tourister's collection.

Held in The Getty Images Gallery with Slim Aarons' fabulous poolside collection as the backdrop, it only seemed natural that we were there to see their suitcases ahead of our summer vacays.

I have two preferred ranges from the brand. The first, Air Force 1, has been designed with the more stylish traveller in mind as the colours have been given the oh-so-popular ombré effect:

The second, the Bon Air range, consists of super sorbet shades, making me want to book a holiday ASAP:

Jacket: Zara (this year's version)
Top: River Island
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: Kurt Geiger

Thanks to the girls at Chase PR for a lovely time!

April's Instagram

Left to right, top to bottom:

1. These Chloé sandals have got me super excited for summer. My SS15 style was completely directed by Chloé and it seems like this year is going to follow suit. Think white, floaty dresses and lace-up details galore.

2. This was my outfit for my Missguided leaving do (yes, I've left, and am on to pastures new). You can get the dress here.

3. This textured clutch is definitely on my hit list (as are all of Whistles' clutches). They always look a lot more expensive than they are thanks to their amazing designs.

4. Shot in one of Manchester's Starbucks, I couldn't resist the opportunity to set up a picture on a marble table (well, would you expect anything less from a blogger?) The sunglasses are from the brand I'm ambassador for, Coconut Lane, and of course, you can use my 20% discount code* if you're a fan: astyleisborn20.

5. I was in London at the start of the week and you can read all about it in Sunday's post; lots to catch you up on.

6. Still building my collection of pink clothing so I've bought a sleeveless blazer from New Look but I need to try it with a few outfits before I decide on it for definite.

Jumper Dress

Earrings: Topshop
Jumper Dress: Missguided
Rings: Coconut Lane
Trainers: Adidas

It's getting to that time of year again when you can just throw on a dress and trainers and I love it! Of course, the temperatures are still a little bit cool which is why it's good to kick the season off with a jumper dress as opposed to your mini broderie anglaise number.

This piece is from Missguided and I got it in a bit of haul of neutral basics. I'm absolutely obsessed with these nude shades at the minute (I know I keep saying that in every post!) and I'm struggling to control my buying because I want every item possible in this colour. I also want to wear several of the shades together so trying to mix and match is taking up a lot of my time. I've kind of done it here with the nails, bag and dress being three different tones but I'd like create the same effect with actual items of clothing. Hopefully the time I'm spending on it will pay off and you'll love what I put together.

Another great way to wear nudes is with rose gold: metallics and their muted counterparts i.e. silver and grey; gold and beige or pink and rose gold really are a match made in heaven. Plus, metallics are huge this season (read here). If you like the rings then you can get them with 20% off using my unique code*: astyleisborn20.

As for the Stan Smiths, I'm sure you'll agree that they were just made for this kind of outfit; this is one of my favourite ways to wear them and one of my go-to casual looks (ideal for meeting people for food and that type of thing.)

Have a great Sunday, everyone! I'm off to London tomorrow so make sure to follow my journey on Snapchat (jlmcl) and Instagram (@astyleisborn).

April's Pinterest

It might be obvious but my mood recently has been all about pinks/nudes, black, white and denim with a little bit of metallic mixed in; they're going to epitomise my summer fashion and my aim is to create a versatile, interchangeable SS16 wardrobe.

I'm going to wear a lot of pink with blue denim as I just can't get over how cute they look together. It seems like such a simple combo where you wonder why you've never worn it before. I like to think of it as a more basic version of pairing pastels.

As for the more nude shades of pink, I'll be wearing them head to toe as an alternative to my all-black and all-white outfits. You might remember I did this with grey in winter and adored the outcome (read here). It does take a bit of organising to do an all-nude outfit but once you get the shades and textures right, it's totally worth it.

With black and white, I love them together, especially when you mix a third, softer colour in like pink. When it comes to wearing them individually, I'm going to put black with a lot of blue denim and then white with nudes and pinks too.

These photos aren't my own but their original links can be found on my Pinterest page here.

Haul

Hi guys, I hope your week is off to a great start!

I'm going to start something a little different with this post so I hope you enjoy it. First, let me share a a bit of background with you:

Starting a YouTube channel has always been in my mind since I began blogging but I wanted to get my written content going first and establish my brand before undertaking another platform. Fast forwarding to the start of 2016 and it seems like the natural next step for me both personally and professionally.

Consistency and cohesion are the most important aspects for me in developing my brand therefore my ideas for the channel mainly centre around haul videos and lookbooks as these would tie in well with what I write about here.

As you can imagine, I've got a lot to to think about: what to film on, when to film, how often, which editing tool(s) to use, how on earth I'm going to look on the camera, etc. so in the meantime, I'll be making these haul posts and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

My recent purchases have involved a lot of beauty products. As I explained in my January Instagram post, it's something I'm concentrating on a lot more of late because I can feel my skin changing as I advance through my twenties.

Firstly, I bought my second Chanel Vitalumière Compact Douceur as I was very impressed as soon as I bought it at the start of the year. I really like that I don't even need to wear any sort of foundation underneath; the coverage is just great. Once you buy one, you just need to buy refills after that which is wonderful for the environment and the purse strings. I wear shade Beige 40.

Next, I treated myself to the Bobbi Brown 'Nude on Nude' eye palette which I've been after for months but never got round to getting! One of the lovely girls in Selfridges Manchester tried it on me first and I loved it as much as I thought I would; it's so 'me'. I've got to say that Bobbi Brown is one of my fave beauty brands and I don't hear many people talking about it. Whenever I've wanted a particular shade of a product, they've always got EXACTLY what I'm looking for and they just seem to mix classic and modern so well.

After that, it was straight to MAC for a liner to match their 'Naturally Transformed' lipstick that I'm living in at the minute. If you also wear this shade then 'Stripdown' works perfectly with it as they both have super warm undertones. I'm wearing them both together in the very top picture above.

I also got this clutch and these earrings from Topshop. I'm loving anything pink/blush/nude/rosegold at the mo'. The circle on the front of the bag makes it instantly different to anything else on the highstreet right now. Key tip: look for clothing and accessories with hardware like this on.

That's it for now anyway until I next go shopping (which, let's face it, will be soon ha!)

This Month I'm Loving... White Bags

Summer's coming up and trust me, you need a white bag. I mean, yes they get dirty, I can't lie, but they're a great staple. All bags are linked below with their titles.

The Bucket: You may have noticed I've brought my Topshop white bucket bag out for 2016 already (here and here) and I plan to use it a lot over the next season. Bucket bags have the ability to really modernise a simple jeans and shirt outfit which is why I like them so much.

Quilted: These YSL bags are just absolute goals, I'm sure you'll agree. Having that texture on a bag, added with a bit of gold, means that this piece is ideal for a nice evening dress.

Ladylike: This style is something a little different for Michael Kors and I've got to say, I'm a fan! This bag could be used for daytime or nighttime and I really love the detail on the handle.

Clutch: I have a white clutch that I bring out from time to time when I'm not sure which one to wear with a particular outfit. A lot have a sporty feel to them so I tend to put mine with monochrome looks or leather.

Tote: If you're looking for something a bit more classic then the tote is the way to go. I'd suggest investing a bit more in this case as white is such a show-all colour that you need to make sure the leather is on point.

Crossbody: You can always rely on Topshop for the latest trends, right? As I said before, my white bucket bag came from there last year and I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality. I don't use it every day but it's definitely a brand I'd recommend for longer-lasting bags.
